Dr. Edwin Munoz

Biography

Dr. Munoz joins the Pacific East District from DoDEA Americas, where he served the Puerto Rico and Cuba school communities as a Professional Practice Improvement Specialist (PPIS). In this role, he supported instructional excellence and professional growth across multiple educational settings, bringing a deep understanding of the unique needs of military-connected students and educators.

Dr. Munoz brings more than twenty years of experience in education to Yokota High School, having served as a classroom teacher and instructional leader from Pre-K through high school. A U.S. Army veteran and career changer, he began his educational journey in Florida as a middle school science teacher and has since served students in grades K–12 in various administrative capacities.

He joined DoDEA in 2017 as the assistant principal of Spangdahlem Elementary School in Germany and later became principal of Arnn Elementary School in Japan. His military service has been a guiding influence in his dedication to supporting military families through education.

Dr. Munoz holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic, a Master of Science in Professional Management from the University of Miami, an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Technology from Keiser University. A lifelong learner, he is passionate about the power of education to shape productive, engaged members of society.

Outside of work, Dr. Munoz enjoys traveling and exploring new adventures with his wife and family.
