Far East Culinary Arts serves up competition
The 2026 Far East Culinary Arts Competition brought together 11 talented teams from Pacific West, Pacific East, and Pacific South districts and a local Japanese school.
2027 Teacher of the Year Nominations
Mr. Brent L. Cook, DoDEA's 2026 Teacher of the Year, encourages nominations for the 2027 DoDEA Teacher of the Year.
Bridging Cultures: Yokota and Fussa high schools strengthen sister-school ties
The partnership between Yokota High School and Fussa High School, born from a sister-school agreement established in August 2022, stands as a shining example of cross-cultural connection. Designed to help students develop a broad international perspective, the program recently brought the two communities together for a dynamic day of exchange.
Student journalists unite at Far East Journalism
More than 105 high school journalism students representing DoDEA-Pacific schools across Japan, Okinawa, Guam, and Korea gathered at Dragon Hill Lodge in Yongsan, Seoul for the annual Far East Journalism Conference Oct. 27–30, 2025.

Music in Our Schools Month
DoDEA joins the National Association for Music Education and schools across the nation in celebrating Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM) in March. The purpose of recognizing MIOSM in DoDEA is to highlight and advocate for music programs in our schools.
National Reading Month
DoDEA joins the National Education Association and schools across the nation in celebrating Read Across America on March 2nd and all year long to help motivate kids to read, bring the joys of reading to students of all ages, and make all children feel valued and welcome.

Nominations for the Educator of Promise Award will be accepted February 23 to March 20, 2026.
The Department Announces New Director of DoWEA
The Department is pleased to announce that Mr. Paul Craft will succeed Dr. Beth Schiavino-Narvaez as the Director of the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), effective March 9, 2026.
Love Teaching Week

39 DoWEA High Schools Recognized on 2025 AP Honor Roll
The College Board announced that 39 Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) high schools have been named to the Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll.
DoDEA Career and Technical Education Month
DoDEA celebrates CTE Month every February as a reminder to students that Career and Technical Education programs are available to all those who want to pursue a college education; enlist in the military; or enter directly into the workforce.
National School Counseling Week
