For many military‑connected students, DoWEA schools are more than classrooms – they are places of stability between PCS moves, where lifelong relationships are formed across continents and cultures.
DoWEA Pacific wraps up soroban workshops across Japan
DoWEA students in grades 3-5 participated in this year’s soroban workshops, a Japanese cultural learning opportunity during which student participants learn what soroban is and how to calculate numbers using soroban tools.
DoWEA Announces State Winners for the Presidential AI Challenge
In April 2025, an executive order directed the establishment of the Presidential AI Challenge to expand artificial intelligence education for America’s youth. DoWEA is proud to recognize 2026 Presidential AI Challenge State Champion teams in nine DoWEA schools.
Far East FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Championship showcases student innovation across Pacific
Twelve schools from South Korea, Guam, mainland Japan, and Okinawa came together for one of the most anticipated STEM events of the year—the Far East FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Championship.

DoWEA Pacific South District earns Cognia Accreditation with Distinction
DoWEA Pacific South District has been awarded Accreditation with Distinction, the highest level of accreditation granted by Cognia, a globally recognized nonprofit organization that accredits schools and school systems.
DoWEA seeks educators and aides to support military-connected students
The Department of War Education Activity has fewer than 100 openings remaining for teachers and fewer than 150 openings remaining for aides in classrooms across the U.S. and around the globe for next school year.
